. Win or lose, it was fun having an excuse to practice with lighting and colours. I'm terrified of colouring traditional works... so every chance I get that forces me to do so is a treat.

This character's colour palette oozes Halloween. I opted to dress her up with the cool palette's of Emily from the Corpse Bride, (and it doesn't hurt that the creator is a Tim Burton fan) because the costume was romantic and tragic, and the blues and oranges are just gorgeous. Besides, Halloween, observed by some as a Feast day to remember those who have passed before us, is about more than just candy and cheesy iconography.

But enough rambling.

Here was the original sketch in all its sketchy glory.

Hope you all enjoy it, and have a safe, happy and utterly frightful Halloween 2013!

This really turned out just absolutely gorgeous, first of all. The contrast of Hollow's skin against the attire just screams beautiful balance of colors And she looks so elegant, but yet creepy at the same time; perfect for a Halloween contest

The dress is beautiful. I love all the folds and details you took the time to put in. I think my favorite parts of the whole drawing is the exposed flesh of her ribs and bones; that is just too cool! And the moonlit background; so soft and pretty ♥ I also really enjoy the darkness at the bottom of the background, it gives it a more dark and scary feel to balance out the white.

I also really love the way you colored this. The shading is just so elegantly done, and the fact that you don't have a black outline on anything really just adds to the elegance. I can tell you spent a lot of time on the coloring and shading, it's just amazing!

My only critique/advice, but it's more a personal opinion, because it still looks gorgeous is the headpiece. I think it gets a bit lost since the colors are so alike in her hair and in the moon. But again, I think that's more of a personal opinion because it still looks great. Maybe just a tad bit more shading in the veil to give it a higher contrast against the moon, and maybe just a little light blue or violet to separate the hair and flowers. But other than that, I think everything is just perfect! This is a really amazing piece; the competition is going to be fierce!
